Stephen & Purvi chose the Library of Birmingham for their pre wedding photography session because it was a place that already meant something special to them. It was where they had their very first date together, which made the shoot feel far more personal and meaningful from the beginning.

The Library of Birmingham provided the perfect setting for relaxed documentary style pre wedding photography. The modern architecture, soft light, and unique interiors created a beautiful contrast against the natural connection between them throughout the session.

Rather than heavily posing everything, the focus was simply on capturing genuine moments together while exploring some of Birmingham’s most iconic locations, including the ICC and surrounding areas around Broad Street.

A SESSION FILLED WITH REAL MOMENTS

One of the things I enjoyed most about this session was how relaxed and easygoing Stephen & Purvi were throughout the shoot. The session never felt forced or overly staged, which allowed us to create natural photographs full of personality and real connection.

Pre wedding shoots are always a great opportunity for couples to slow down, spend time together, and become comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day itself. It also allows us to create photographs that feel personal to their story and relationship.

I was very much looking forward to photographing both their church wedding and Hindu wedding celebrations the following year after spending time with them during this Birmingham pre wedding shoot.

As a Coventry couple portrait photographer, I love creating relaxed and natural portrait sessions. I met Disha & Michael at Coventry Cathedral for a modern couple shoot. The cathedral is one of the most unique portrait locations in the Midlands.

We kept the session simple and natural throughout. Rather than using heavy posing, I encouraged movement, conversation, and genuine interaction. Light plays a huge role in photography, and one of my favourite parts of any portrait session is finding the best natural light possible for my couples. For this Barcelona couple shoot with Slava & Alina, that meant an early sunrise start through the quiet streets of the city.

While waking up before sunrise may not sound appealing at first, the soft morning light and peaceful atmosphere made it completely worth the effort. Sunrise in Barcelona gave us beautiful golden light, long shadows, and empty streets before the city became busy later in the morning.

Rather than photographing during sunset alongside crowds of tourists, we decided a sunrise session would allow the shoot to feel far more relaxed and natural.

THE SHOOT

Like many couples I photograph, Slava & Alina wanted the session to feel relaxed and genuine rather than overly posed. The quiet streets and soft light helped create a calm atmosphere throughout the shoot while allowing natural moments to unfold between them.

Alina is also a professional wedding photographer herself, which made the session incredibly easy and enjoyable. I was able to focus almost entirely on composition, light, and storytelling while they naturally interacted together in front of the camera.

This portrait session with Gosia & Matt took place in Nottingham city centre. After photographing in many outdoor locations around Nottingham over the years, I wanted to create something different using the city itself as the backdrop.

We started near the Nottingham Contemporary before exploring nearby streets as the evening light changed. Moving through different areas allowed us to use reflections, architecture, textures, and quieter side streets to create a more cinematic feel throughout the session.

Gosia & Matt were relaxed from the start and fully open to trying different ideas along the way. That freedom allowed the session to feel creative, natural, and easy-going without forcing anything.

Before their beautiful wedding at Mythe Barn, I met up with Joe & Abbi for a relaxed pre wedding photography session in the countryside near Loughborough.

We started the morning at Quorn & Woodhouse Station, one of the most characterful locations in Leicestershire for a relaxed engagement shoot. From the very beginning, Joe & Abbi felt completely natural in front of the camera. That made photographing them together incredibly easy and enjoyable.

Joe even mentioned that he had modelled as a child in Asia. That probably explained how comfortable he looked throughout the session.

After spending some time around the station, we continued the shoot in nearby countryside fields. Unexpectedly, a curious herd of sheep decided to join the photographs.

One of the things I enjoy most about pre wedding photography is how relaxed everything feels. There’s far less pressure compared to a wedding day timeline. It gives couples the chance to slow down and spend time together naturally. It also helps them feel more comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day.

As a relaxed documentary Leicestershire wedding photographer, I always try to create sessions that feel calm, natural, and enjoyable rather than heavily posed or overly directed.

Throughout the shoot, we explored different areas of the city while creating a mixture of relaxed portraits and genuine moments together. Rather than overcomplicating the session with constant posing, the focus was simply on good light, beautiful surroundings, and allowing the couple to enjoy the experience naturally.

One of the things I enjoy most about destination pre-wedding photography is how every location brings its own energy and atmosphere into the photographs. Sessions like this are not only about creating beautiful images, but also about documenting an experience and memory together before the wedding day itself.

Relaxed Destination Engagement Session

The relaxed pace of the shoot allowed everything to unfold naturally while we explored the streets and coastline around Barcelona. Destination engagement sessions often feel far more relaxed than traditional portrait shoots, which helps create more genuine interaction and natural photographs throughout the session.

The entire shoot was photographed using a Leica M camera with a 50mm lens, which felt perfect for creating intimate, timeless portraits while keeping the experience unobtrusive and relaxed.
