Relaxed Barcelona Pre-Wedding Photography at Sunrise
Photographing Ivan & Desi’s Barcelona pre-wedding shoot was a special experience for several reasons. Not only was this one of my first destination pre-wedding shoots outside the UK, but it also became an important personal milestone in my journey as a wedding photographer.
Like many photographers visiting Barcelona for the first time, I wanted to create something memorable while capturing the atmosphere and energy of the city in a natural and relaxed way. We chose one of Barcelona’s beautiful beaches for the session, aiming to photograph the sunrise before the crowds arrived later in the morning.
Starting the shoot just after 6:30am gave us soft light, empty surroundings, and a calm atmosphere that suited the session perfectly. By the time the city started to wake up around 8:30am, we had already finished the shoot and escaped for breakfast nearby.
THE COUPLE
Like many couples I photograph, Ivan & Desi had never done a professional photoshoot together before. Being in front of the camera initially felt unfamiliar to them, but after a short time they completely relaxed and simply focused on enjoying the experience together.
That natural connection made a huge difference throughout the session. Rather than heavily posing them, I wanted the shoot to feel honest, relaxed, and genuine while documenting real interaction between them against the backdrop of Barcelona’s coastline.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this Barcelona pre-wedding shoot was how naturally everything unfolded. The early morning light, quiet beach, and relaxed atmosphere allowed us to create photographs that felt timeless and authentic without forcing moments.
THE WEDDING
Shortly after this pre-wedding session, Ivan & Desi celebrated a small, intimate wedding surrounded by close family and friends. The entire wedding felt personal, emotional, and incredibly genuine from start to finish.
